About the Event

Brief introduction

Communicating your research findings is a crucial step in research process. The standard way to communicate with research society is by publishing your paper in journals, particularly in peer review and indexed journals. In this regard, each researcher should be very much aware about such terminologies. Not only this, they should be able to find the most appropriate journals for their papers and should be able to avoid predatory journals. Moreover, the clear understanding of peer-review journal system makes a researcher more confident and helps in improving the quality of a paper. This workshop-cum-training program is about these issues. It discusses about literature review and moves on to research ethics. Later in the next day, this event covers paper writing, citation, and finally the ecosystem of peer-review journal.

Justification of the program

Many researchers in our University are familiar with teaching activities. They are familiar with research activities too. However, there is a need to increase such activities to promote research and make them ready to contribute to the society. This training will help our researchers to understand more about publishing their research work. Participants will understand more about the peer-review process in journals. These days, publishing a paper is not enough. Publishing in an indexed journal and peer-review journals are mandatory in many cases. To help our researchers in this matter, this training will play important role. The Program is jointly organized by Gandaki College of Engineering and Science Lamachaur Pokhara, and School of Engineering, Pokhara University

Methodology used

This workshop-cum-training will last for 3 days. During the training, resource persons will deliver lecture on different topics. Participants are also requested to conduct different activities. They are asked to reflect their perceptions on research ethics. And then each group will be asked to give a presentation. Similarly, another activity is related to abstract writing. Each group will present their works and other will vote. Since this training makes participants engaged in activities, it is also a kind of Workshop.
